Born performer: Katy performed her track California Gurls, dressed as a modern day Wonder Woman


It was a case of who could glitter the most as the stars arrived for the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles.

Katy Perry and Lindsay Lohan both chose crystal-encrusted outfits, but with strikingly different results.

Katy's clinging sheer dress from Zuhair Murad showed her toned figure, with artfully placed crystals ensuring her modesty.

But Lindsay's Pamella Roland jumpsuit had a plunging neckline which revealed her lack of underwear.

She managed to maintain her modesty as she waved to fans, but only just, having chosen to go without any support.

One advantage of her outfit was that it hid her SCAR anklet, which monitors the alcohol levels in her blood.

Lindsay must wear the anklet for at least two months, as a condition of her probation, so was able to join in the celebrations at any after show parties.

The 23-year-old accessorised with a stack of silver bangles, while Katy, 25, wore a shockingly bright blue wig.

She later changed into a Wonder Woman inspired outfit to perform her hit California Gurls.

Fans in the bleachers lining the red carpet outside the Gibson Amphitheatre welcomed famous faces with earsplitting cheers.

Celebrity Rehab star Dr Drew Pinsky proved as popular as The Hills stars Audrina Patridge and Stephanie Pratt, who described her dress as 'the Rainbow Brite look.'

Pratt said the movie awards are her favorite of the MTV award shows.
'They're just so funny,' she said. 'It's like a live comedy show.'


Hollywood stars: Actresses Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson all kept it above the knee


Amongst those arriving for the awards were a host of Hollywood stars.

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens wore a short white babydoll dress by Jenny Packham, teamed with silver open toed heels.

Jessica Biel wore a black sparkly skirt with a white polka dot blouse by Giambattista Valli, joining her A-Team co-star Bradley Cooper onstage to present the Best Kiss award.

Scarlett Johansson wore a green lace cocktail dress belted at the waist and black pumps, both by Dolce & Gabbana.

Twilight's Kristen Stewart wore a gold brocade and tweed dress from Dolce & Gabbana to collect two awards, Best Female Performance and Best Kiss. Her co-star Anna Kendrick went for a red and black mini dress, by Zac Posen.

Christina Aguilera wore a stunning faiytale black gown by Versace Atelier, with jewels by British designer Stephen Webster.

She later took to the stage to perform.
